Financial Aid Philosophy
Armitage Academy is committed to enrolling qualified students, regardless of the family's financial situation. Our Admissions office seeks students with academic promise who are motivated learners and are supported by an encouraging and engaged family.
We offer a financial assistance program to encourage the economic diversity of its student body. Aid is available to students accepted for admission to Armitage whose families require financial assistance in order to afford an independent school education. Armitage Academy does not discriminate on the basis of gender, race, color, handicapped status, sexual orientation, religion, or national or ethnic origin.
Determining Need
Financial grants are based primarily on financial need as determined by the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSS) and other information supplied to the school by the family. Armitage Academy defines "need" as the difference between the total cost of attendance (tuition and fees, etc.) and a family’s ability to pay that cost. The need assessment is based upon annual income and family expenses, assets and liabilities, family size, cost of living and the number of children for whom a family must pay tuition. Other criteria that may be considered includes:
- the likelihood of the child's long-term enrollment
- the child's regular attendance
- the participation of the parents in school activities as expected of all parents
- the student's maintaining an academic level consistent with school standards and individual abilities plus having a positive attitude toward school
- siblings
- the parents' payment history
How to apply
Parents will be asked to fill out a detailed form and submit it with a processing fee to SSS. They will then do an initial assessment and make recommendations to the school. There are strict deadlines to be met in filing the forms, so parents must be timely.
We make every effort to meet the needs of our applicants. We ask that applicants please be reasonable in their requests and we, in turn, will work with them toward a positive outcome.
For those families that do not qualify for a need-based grant, but would still like some flexibility in meeting our payment plan, Armitage offers a ten-month payment plan through FACTS tuition plans.
